DERMAL FILLERS NYC

COSMETIC INJECTABLES

Dermal fillers in NYC can restore youthful-looking facial volume without surgery. Today’s cosmetic injectable options are vast. With so many different dermal fillers to choose from, it can seem overwhelming. Cosmetic injectables, also known as facial injections, are ideal for treating wrinkles and reducing the signs of aging. The best injectable and dermal filler for you will depend on your personal goals and skin type. What works for your friend may not be what’s best for you. All of our providers at Dermatology, Laser & Surgery of Carnegie Hill are board-certified dermatologists and physician assistants who can help you obtain a youthful, natural-looking result. We can customize your treatment based on what’s best suited for you so you look and feel your absolute best.*

The three most common types of injectables and dermal fillers are:

NEUROTOXINS

These injectables temporarily block the nerve receptors of your muscles, which soften the look of lines and wrinkles caused by repetitive movements.

HYALURONIC ACID FILLERS

Hyaluronic acid attracts water to areas that need to be plumped up. These dermal fillers can “fill in” the space between your skin’s collagen and elastin fibers, removing your creases.

CALCIUM-BASED FILLERS AND POLY-L-LACTIC FILLERS

These dermal fillers are also known as “collagen-stimulating fillers.” These injectables give an immediate filling effect, but also work to stimulate the body’s own production of collagen for a longer-lasting result.

Botox® Cosmetic

Botox Cosmetic

If you’re tired of using over-the-counter anti-wrinkle products with no results, it’s time to call in the experts at Dermatology, Laser & Surgery of Carnegie Hill. Botox® injections are used primarily for the ability to reduce the appearance of facial wrinkles. Botox® injections block certain chemical signals from nerves that cause muscles to contract. Botox® Cosmetic can temporarily relax the facial muscles in the forehead and around the eyes to restore youthfulness to your expression.

WHAT IS BOTOX® COSMETIC?

Botox® is the most readily recognized non-surgical cosmetic treatment used to reduce fine lines and wrinkles by relaxing the underlying muscles. Botox® is a natural purified protein that temporarily smooths crows’ feet around the eyes, frown lines on the forehead, and other facial lines. This injectable relaxes muscles by temporarily blocking nerve impulses.

WHERE DOES BOTOX® COME FROM?

Botox® uses a toxin called botulinum toxin. Botox®, a neurotoxin, was the first medication to use the botulinum toxin. The primary substance used in Botox® injections, botulinum toxin A, is carefully extracted, purified, and standardized into FDA-approved doses. The dose is so small, it can’t travel beyond the muscle tissue it’s injected into. This means that it’s unlikely for Botox® to enter the bloodstream. In extremely small concentrations, the botulinum toxin has proven to be a successful and valuable therapeutic protein. Injected Botox® prevents the release of acetylcholine to prevent muscle contractions and muscle stiffness.

HOW DOES BOTOX® COSMETIC WORK?

Whenever you laugh, squint, or frown, certain facial muscles contract, ultimately creating lines on your face. Botox® smooths these lines by reducing muscle activity and relaxing the underlying muscles. Once the muscles are at rest, the skin becomes smoother, creating a more natural and refreshed appearance.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE FOR BOTOX® TO WORK?

The actual injection time is only about ten to twenty minutes per area of your face. It takes about two to three days for your Botox® results to be visible. After a week, your face should be visibly smoother.*

HOW LONG DOES BOTOX® LAST?

Botox® varies in its lasting effectiveness from patient to patient. Typically, Botox® results last three to four months.*

WHEN IS BOTOX® THE MOST EFFECTIVE?

Botox® is most effective on mild-to-moderate facial wrinkles. Muscles that work hard and have deep crevices are harder to soften. New wrinkles that are not as deep and appear with facial expressions are easier to soften. Botox® is considered by many to be preventive, because the sooner you soften a muscle, the less likely the lines will have a chance to settle in.*

CAN ANY DOCTOR INJECT BOTOX®?

Our dermatologists specialize in dermal fillers and injectables and have extensive experience in administering Botox® treatments. It’s important that the injections are placed precisely in order to avoid side effects. A skilled and properly certified provider will advise you on the procedure and help you determine if Botox® Cosmetic is best suited to your needs and desired results.

IS BOTOX® SAFE FOR EVERYONE?

If you’re pregnant, breastfeeding, or plan to become pregnant, you should speak with your doctor before injecting Botox® or any other neurotoxins. If you’ve ever had an allergic reaction to any botulinum product, you should share this with our NYC dermatologists.

ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS AFTER BOTOX®?

Patients typically resume their activities immediately after Botox® treatment in NYC. Some patients do experience mild redness, bruising, and swelling in the days following their Botox® injection. Some patients may have an allergic reaction, which may include itching, rash, redness, wheezing, asthma, or dizziness. More serious complications are rare, but should any problems arise with breathing, speaking, or swallowing, seek medical attention immediately.

WILL I STILL BE ABLE TO MAKE FACIAL EXPRESSIONS?

Yes. Botox® simply reduces muscle activity. You’ll be able to make all of your normal facial expressions.

CAN BOTOX® BE COMBINED WITH DERMAL FILLERS?

Yes. You can be treated with a neurotoxin, such as Botox®, in combination with dermal fillers. Neurotoxins can relax frown lines and hyaluronic acids can lift the crease left behind. Studies have shown that the results of hyaluronic acid fillers may last longer when used in tandem with a neurotoxin. Our dermatologists will discuss with you what treatments or combination of injectables may best suit your desired result.

WHAT ARE OTHER USES FOR BOTOX®?

Botox® is also used to treat conditions such as neck spasms, excessive sweating, bladder and bowel disorders, lazy eye, and chronic migraines.

HOW DO I LEARN MORE ABOUT BOTOX® TREATMENT?

Talk to one of our dermatology providers about all of your anti-wrinkle options. Our dermatologists can examine you and discuss your Botox® treatment. Give us a call at 646-661-6131 or request an appointment online for a personal consultation.

Xeomin®

Xeomin

Xeomin® is similar to Botox®, but not the same. They are both neurotoxins designed to reduce the appearance of wrinkles that occur due to repetitious muscle contractions involved in everyday facial movements. Xeomin®, like Botox®, is injected into the facial muscle to temporarily block the nerve impulses that are needed for contraction. The muscle relaxes and decreases the movement, which reduces the appearance of lines or wrinkles in that area. Both treatments have been FDA-approved for addressing facial wrinkles that occur due to squinting or raising the eyebrows. Both are successful for smoothing wrinkles and creases in the forehead and reducing crows’ feet, as well as treating areas around the mouth, chin, nose, jaw, and neck.

HOW DOES XEOMIN® DIFFER FROM BOTOX®?

Some people think that Xeomin® is a less expensive version or a generic version of Botox®. This is not true. There are significant differences between these two neurotoxins. The main difference has to do with the formulation. Xeomin® is a “naked” neurotoxin, which means that Xeomin® contains only a single ingredient: botulinum toxin A. Botox® includes various protective proteins clustered around the active muscle. The benefit of Xeomin®’s purer form means users have a lower chance of developing resistance that can limit its desired effects.

WHAT IS XEOMIN®?

Xeomin® is the purest form of neurotoxin. This non-surgical cosmetic treatment is used to reduce fine lines and wrinkles by relaxing the underlying muscles. Xeomin® can treat the same facial lines treated by Botox®, including laugh lines, crows’ feet around the eyes, and frown lines on the forehead.

WHAT IS XEOMIN® MADE FROM?

Xeomin®, incobotullinumtoxinA, is made from the bacteria that causes botulism. The only substance used in Xeomin® injections, botulinum toxin A, is carefully extracted, purified, and standardized into FDA-approved doses. Since the dose is so small, it cannot travel beyond the injection site. This means that there’s no chance for Xeomin® to enter the bloodstream. In extremely small concentrations, the botulinum toxin has proven to be a successful and valuable therapeutic protein. When injected, Xeomin® can prevent the release of acetylcholine to temporarily reduce muscle contractions.

HOW DOES XEOMIN® WORK?

Every one of your facial expressions – from laughing to squinting to frowning – causes certain facial muscles to contract, eventually forming wrinkles and fine lines. Xeomin® smooths these lines by reducing muscle activity and relaxing the underlying muscles.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE FOR XEOMIN® TO WORK?

Xeomin® injections take approximately ten to twenty minutes to administer. It may take up to four days for your Xeomin® results to be visible. After a week, you should notice a reduction in facial wrinkling.*

HOW LONG DOES XEOMIN® LAST?

Xeomin®, like Botox® varies in its lasting effectiveness from patient to patient. Typically, Xeomin® results last three to six months.*

WHEN IS XEOMIN® THE MOST EFFECTIVE?

Xeomin® is most effective for newer facial wrinkles. Deeper creases are harder to soften and treat, while newer, moderate wrinkles are easier to address. Many doctors feel that Xeomin® treatment can be preventive, because the sooner you soften a muscle, the less likely the lines will have a chance to settle in.*

CAN ANY DOCTOR INJECT XEOMIN®?

The placement of your Xeomin® injection is important, as precise placement is necessary to avoid side effects. Our doctors specialize in Xeomin® treatments. A certified provider can advise you on your treatment and help determine if Xeomin® is right for you.

IS XEOMIN® SAFE FOR EVERYONE?

Patients who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or plan to become pregnant should discuss Xeomin® treatment with their doctor first. You should also alert your doctor if you have had an allergic reaction to any botulinum product.

ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS AFTER XEOMIN®?

Patients can usually resume their activities immediately following Xeomin® treatment. You may experience mild redness, bruising, or swelling for a few days following your procedure. Some patients may have an allergic reaction, which may include: itching, rash, redness, wheezing, asthma, or dizziness. Complications are rare, but you should seek medical attention immediately if you experience any issues related to breathing, speaking, swallowing, loss of strength, muscle weakness, drooping eyelids, or loss of bladder control.

WILL I STILL BE ABLE TO MAKE FACIAL EXPRESSIONS?

Xeomin® simply reduces muscle activity, so your ability to make facial expressions will not be affected.

CAN XEOMIN® BE COMBINED WITH DERMAL FILLERS?

Yes. Xeomin® can be used in conjunction with dermal fillers for comprehensive results. Neurotoxins like Xeomin® can treat frown lines, while hyaluronic acid fillers can lift the crease left behind. Studies have shown that dermal filler results may last longer when used alongside a neurotoxin. Our dermatologists can discuss which dermal fillers and cosmetic injectables can best achieve your procedure goals.

WHAT ARE THE NON-AESTHETIC USES FOR XEOMIN®?

Xeomin® has many medical applications. Xeomin® injections can be used to treat cervical dystonia (severe neck spasms), as well as stiffness in the elbows, wrists, fingers, ankles, or toes. Xeomin® is also used to treat certain eye muscle conditions, including uncontrolled blinking and eye spasms.

HOW DO I LEARN MORE ABOUT XEOMIN® TREATMENT?

Talk to one of our dermatology providers about all of your anti-wrinkle options. Our dermatologists can examine you and discuss your Xeomin® treatment. Give us a call at 646-661-6131 or request an appointment online for a personal consultation.

Dysport®

Dysport

Dysport® is an FDA-approved treatment for facial wrinkles. Like Botox® and Xeomin®, Dysport® is made from botulinum toxin A. Dysport® is a neurotoxin designed to smooth wrinkles and creases in the forehead and improve crows’ feet. Dysport® can also reduce the prominence of fine lines and wrinkles around the mouth, chin, nose, jaw, and neck. Dysport® is injected into the facial muscle to temporarily block nerve impulses that cause muscle contractions, resulting in wrinkle reduction.

HOW DOES DYSPORT® DIFFER FROM BOTOX®?

There are significant differences between Dysport® and Botox®. The main difference has to do with how they are dosed. These products are not interchangeable; they are dosed differently. For example, twenty units of Botox® does not equal twenty units of Dysport®. Dysport® is diluted in greater quantities than Botox®. A higher quantity of Dysport® is needed to equate to the same effectiveness of Botox®. The Dysport® formula contains smaller molecules as compared to Botox®. This may be beneficial to some patients.

WHY CHOOSE DYSPORT®?

Dysport® tends to diffuse more than Botox®, causing it to spread to a broader area after it’s injected. This means a larger treatment area can be addressed in fewer injections, which can be beneficial when relaxing muscles of a larger area. At times, dermatologists may even use multiple neurotoxins concurrently in a single treatment to most effectively produce a patient’s desired result. Doctors may choose Dysport® for a larger area and choose another neurotoxin for a smaller area, such as treating crows’ feet.

WHAT IS DYSPORT® MADE FROM?

Dysport®, known as abobotullinumtoxinA, is made from the bacteria that causes botulism. The primary substance used in Dysport® injections, botulinum toxin A, is carefully extracted, purified, and standardized into FDA-approved doses. When injected, Dysport® prevents the release of acetylcholine, which is a chemical that prevents the contraction of the muscle cells.

HOW DOES DYSPORT® WORK?

Dysport® can treat the same facial lines treated by Botox®, including laugh lines or crows’ feet around the eyes, frown lines on the forehead, and other facial lines around the jaw, nose, chin, and neck. Dysport® smooths these lines by reducing muscle activity. By relaxing underlying muscles, Dysport® can improve facial wrinkling.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE FOR DYSPORT® TO WORK?

Dysport® is a fast-acting neurotoxin, as the molecules are smaller. The actual injection time is only about ten to twenty minutes. Patients can expect to see results after three days.*

HOW LONG DOES DYSPORT® LAST?

Dysport® results will ultimately vary from patient to patient. Typically, results last three to six months.*

WHEN IS DYSPORT® THE MOST EFFECTIVE?

Dysport® is designed to treat newer facial wrinkles and fine lines. Deeper creases are more difficult to address, while newer wrinkles are easier to treat. Dysport® is used by many physicians as a preventive treatment to protect against the formation of deeper wrinkles.*

CAN ANY DOCTOR INJECT DYSPORT®?

Dysport® contains smaller molecules as compared to Botox® and Xeomin®, so treatment is different. Due to the smaller molecules, Dysport® works much faster and spreads wider. Our dermatologists have extensive experience working with Dysport®. It’s important that your Dysport® injections be placed precisely and correctly to avoid any side effects. Our skilled, certified dermatologists can help determine if Dysport® treatment can best accomplish your goals.

IS DYSPORT® SAFE FOR EVERYONE?

You should not receive Dysport® if you’re allergic to botulinum toxin or cow’s milk. If you have an infection, swelling, or muscle weakness in the area to be treated, you should not receive Dysport®. If you’re pregnant, breastfeeding, or plan to become pregnant, you should speak with your doctor before opting for Dysport® treatment.

ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS AFTER DYSPORT®?

Dysport® patients typically resume their daily activities immediately following treatment. Some patients do experience mild redness, bruising, or swelling for a few days following their Dysport® injections. Some patients may have an allergic reaction, which may include: itching, rash, redness, wheezing, asthma, or dizziness. Complications are rare, but should any problems arise with breathing, speaking, swallowing, loss of strength, muscle weakness, drooping eyelids, or loss of bladder control, you should seek medical attention immediately.

WILL I STILL BE ABLE TO MAKE FACIAL EXPRESSIONS?

Yes. Dysport® does not hinder your ability to make facial expressions; it simply reduces muscle activity.

CAN DYSPORT® BE COMBINED WITH DERMAL FILLERS?

Dysport® can be combined with dermal fillers to further enhance your facial profile. Studies have shown that neurotoxins used together with dermal fillers can accentuate results. Dysport® can relax wrinkles while a dermal filler can fill in areas of lost volume. Our dermatologists will discuss with you which cosmetic injectables may best suit your desired results.

WHAT ARE THE NON-AESTHETIC USES FOR DYSPORT®?

Dysport® injections are used to treat severe neck spasms (known as cervical dystonia). Dysport® can also resolve stiffness in the elbows, wrists, fingers, ankles, or toes. It is sometimes used to treat certain eye muscle conditions, including eye spasms and uncontrollable blinking.

HOW DO I LEARN MORE ABOUT DYSPORT® TREATMENT?

Talk to one of our dermatology providers about all of your anti-wrinkle options. Our dermatologists can examine you and discuss your Dysport® treatment. Give us a call at 646-661-6131 or request an appointment online for a personal consultation.

Jeuveau®

Jeuveau

Jeuveau® is a neurotoxin identical to Botox® in its formulation. Jeuveau® is the first neurotoxin to be released by a company dedicated to aesthetics, as opposed to a medical company dedicated to treating medical conditions, such as migraines, muscle spasms, and the like. Botox® and Jeuveau® are absolutely identical to each other. They are both FDA-approved neurotoxins designed to reduce the prominence of facial wrinkles that occur due to repetitious muscle contractions. Both can smooth wrinkles and creases in the forehead and reduce crows’ feet. Jeuveau® is injected into the facial muscle to temporarily block nerve impulses that cause contractions. As the muscle relaxes, it decreases movement, which in turn reduces the appearance of fine lines in that area. Dermatology, Laser & Surgery of Carnegie Hill is a premier destination for Jeuveau® and other cosmetic injectables.

HOW DOES JEUVEAU® DIFFER FROM BOTOX®?

Jeuveau® is structurally identical to Botox® in its formulation. However, Jeuveau® was developed solely for aesthetic purposes.

WHAT IS JEUVEAU®?

Jeuveau® is a wrinkle-smoothing treatment used to temporarily reduce fine lines caused by repetitive muscle movements. Like Botox®, Xeomin®, and Dysport®, Jeuveau® can treat the same facial lines, including laugh lines or crows’ feet around the eyes, frown lines on the forehead, and other facial wrinkles.

WHAT IS JEUVEAU® MADE FROM?

Jeuveau®, or prabotulinumtoxinA-xvfs, is made from the bacteria that causes botulism. The primary substance used in Jeuveau® injections is botulinum toxin A. This substance is carefully extracted, purified, and standardized into FDA-approved doses. Since these doses are small, they do not travel further than the treatment area.

HOW DOES JEUVEAU® WORK?

Over time, your facial expressions can result in the formation of fine lines and wrinkles. Jeuveau® can treat laugh lines, crows’ feet around the eyes, frown lines on the forehead, and wrinkles around the mid-face and neck. When injected, Jeuveau® prevents the contraction of muscle cells by blocking nerve activity.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE FOR JEUVEAU® TO WORK?

The actual injection time for Jeuveau® is only about ten to twenty minutes. It takes approximately two to four days for your Jeuveau® results to be visible. After a week, you should start to notice improvements to your facial profile.*

HOW LONG DOES JEUVEAU® LAST?

Jeuveau® results typically last four to six months. However, it is important to remember that results will vary from patient to patient.*

WHEN IS JEUVEAU® THE MOST EFFECTIVE?

Jeuveau® is most effective when treating mild-to-moderate wrinkles. These wrinkles are typically easier to treat than deeper creases. Jeuveau® is seen by many doctors as preventive, as it can guard against the formation of deep facial wrinkles.*

CAN ANY DOCTOR INJECT JEUVEAU®?

Our dermatologists specialize in Jeuveau® injections and can administer this treatment in-office. It is important that Jeuveau® injections be placed precisely to avoid any side effects. Our dermatology providers can help decide if Jeuveau® treatment is ideal for you.

IS JEUVEAU® SAFE FOR EVERYONE?

You should not receive Jeuveau® if you have had an allergic reaction to botulinum toxin in the past. If you have an infection, swelling, or muscle weakness in the treatment area, you should not undergo Jeuveau® treatment. Additionally, patients who are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding should speak with a doctor before opting for Jeuveau® injections.

ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS AFTER JEUVEAU®?

Patients can typically return to their daily routines after Jeuveau® treatments. Mild redness, bruising, or swelling may occur in the days following your procedure. Some patients may have an allergic reaction, which may include: itching, rash, redness, wheezing, asthma, or dizziness. Complications are rare, but should any problems arise with breathing, speaking, swallowing, loss of strength, muscle weakness, drooping eyelids, or loss of bladder control, seek medical attention immediately.

WILL I STILL BE ABLE TO MAKE FACIAL EXPRESSIONS?

Yes, you’ll be able to make all of your normal facial expressions. Jeuveau® simply reduces muscle activity.

CAN JEUVEAU® BE COMBINED WITH DERMAL FILLERS?

Yes. Jeuveau® can be used together with dermal fillers to further enhance your results. Jeuveau® can ease facial wrinkling, while cosmetic fillers can add natural-looking volume to the face. Studies have shown that dermal filler results may actually last longer when used together with a neurotoxin like Jeuveau® or Botox®. Our dermatologists can discuss which injectables are best for you.

ARE THERE ANY NON-AESTHETIC USES FOR JEUVEAU®?

No. Jeuveau® was created solely for the purpose of smoothing fine lines and wrinkles by reducing muscle activity. Unlike other neurotoxins, Jeuveau® is strictly cosmetic.

HOW DO I LEARN MORE ABOUT JEUVEAU® TREATMENT?

Talk to one of our dermatology providers about all of your anti-wrinkle options. Our dermatologists can examine you and discuss your Jeuveau® treatment. Give us a call at 646-661-6131 or request an appointment online for a personal consultation.

Juvèderm® Ultra

Juvederm Ultra

Juvèderm® Ultra is a long-lasting dermal filler that helps reduce the signs of aging by adding volume to targeted areas of the face. Juvèderm® Ultra is made from hyaluronic acid (commonly known as HA). Hyaluronic acid is a naturally-occurring substance in the body that holds and attracts water to help keep the skin plump and hydrated. Because hyaluronic acid is a natural component of your own body, the results when using hyaluronic acid fillers like Juvèderm® Ultra can be incredibly natural. Juvèderm® Ultra is designed to soften moderate-to-severe lines and wrinkles, while also lifting and contouring the face.

WHAT ARE HYALURONIC ACID DERMAL FILLERS?

Hyaluronic acid fillers, also called dermal fillers, are used to plump up wrinkles, smooth lines, and fill facial folds. They can add definition to correct and improve facial wrinkles, nasolabial folds (the lines from the nose to the corners of the mouth), and marionette lines (the lines from the corners of the mouth down towards the jawline). Dermal fillers can also volumize the lips, contour the chin and nose, or plump up sunken cheeks and temples for a fuller, youthful-looking appearance.

Dermal fillers can add to features that look flat or sunken in, such as the cheeks, temples, tear troughs, under eye hollows, jawline, and lips. Thicker hyaluronic acid fillers are gels that are most appropriate for building volume in the cheeks or for a liquid rhinoplasty for the nose. Less dense fillers work well for wrinkles in the delicate eye area or on lines around the upper lip.

WHAT CAN JUVÈDERM® ULTRA DERMAL FILLER DO?

Juvèderm® Ultra can be used for a number of applications, including:

  • Smoothing wrinkles
  • Filling fine lines, creases, and folds
  • Sculpting cheeks
  • Smoothing smile lines and frown lines
  • Plumping lips
  • Augmenting nose shape
  • Enhancing chin size and shape
  • Strengthening the jawline
  • Filling sunken temples

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT DURING MY JUVÈDERM® ULTRA FILLER TREATMENT?

Juvèderm® Ultra treatments are relatively fast and painless. A topical anesthetic gel or cream may be applied to eliminate the possibility of any discomfort. Once that takes effect, the Juvèderm® Ultra (a thin, gel-like substance) is injected into the target area using a tiny needle. The actual injection time is only about fifteen to forty minutes. Juvèderm® Ultra can add natural-looking volume and definition to the treatment area.*

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE FOR JUVÈDERM® ULTRA TO WORK?

The beauty of dermal fillers is that the results are immediate. Within a week or two, the product settles fully into your skin and the final results should be beautifully apparent.*

HOW LONG DOES JUVÈDERM® ULTRA LAST?

The effects of Juvèderm® Ultra treatment are immediate. The area of injection should instantly appear smoother and fuller-looking. One syringe of Juvèderm® Ultra should last from four to six months, depending on how fast the metabolism in your body breaks down the hyaluronic acid. One to two treatments per year can help to maintain your Juvèderm® Ultra results. Over time, you may actually need less frequent visits and smaller doses thanks to the long-term benefits of continuous correction (as new collagen generates from the Juvèderm® Ultra treatment).*

CAN ANY DOCTOR INJECT JUVÈDERM® ULTRA?

Our dermatologists specialize in dermal fillers in NYC and have extensive experience in administering all types of cosmetic injections. It’s important that injections be placed precisely in order to achieve the desired result. Our skilled and properly certified providers can advise you as to whether or not dermal fillers are best for you.

IS JUVÈDERM® ULTRA SAFE FOR EVERYONE?

Juvèderm® Ultra is FDA-approved and safe for use. You should not receive Juvèderm® products if you’re allergic or have a sensitivity to hyaluronic acid or lidocaine. Patients with severe allergies manifested by a history of anaphylaxis or the presence of multiple allergies should not receive Juvèderm®. Juvèderm® Ultra should not be administered directly after laser treatment, deep chemical peeling, or dermabrasion. If you’re pregnant, breastfeeding, or plan to become pregnant, you should speak with your doctor before undergoing treatment with Juvèderm® or any other dermal fillers. If you’ve ever had an allergic reaction to any type of dermal filler, you should share this with your doctor. Anyone who has recently used blood thinners or has a bleeding disorder should avoid dermal fillers.

IS A SKIN TEST REQUIRED PRIOR TO JUVÈDERM® ULTRA?

No allergy test is required. Juvèderm® injectable fillers are safe, FDA-approved, biocompatible, and non-animal based, which means patients do not need to have allergy testing done prior to Juvèderm® Ultra injections.

WHAT’S IN JUVÈDERM® ULTRA?

Juvèderm® Ultra contains non-animal hyaluronic acid filler derived from a naturally-occurring substance found in the skin. Juvèderm® Ultra also contains lidocaine, a local anesthetic to provide more comfort both during and after the injection.

ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS AFTER JUVÈDERM® ULTRA?

There is no downtime associated with Juvèderm® Ultra treatments. Side effects are minimal and may include temporary redness, tenderness, swelling, or bruising at the injection site. Makeup can easily cover any temporary discoloration. In rare cases, small bumps may appear under the skin at the injection site. For the first twenty-four hours following your appointment, you’ll want to avoid intense exercise, heat and sun exposure, alcohol, excess salt, aspirin, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, and lying face down.

HOW DO I LEARN MORE ABOUT JUVÈDERM® ULTRA TREATMENT?

Talk to one of our dermatology providers about all of your NYC dermal filler options. Our dermatologists can examine you and discuss your Juvèderm® Ultra treatment. Give us a call at 646-661-6131 or request an appointment online for a personal consultation.

Juvèderm® Ultra Plus

Juvederm Ultra Plus

Juvèderm® Ultra Plus is a hyaluronic acid dermal filler that can reduce the prominence of facial aging by adding natural-looking volume to your facial profile. Juvèderm® Ultra Plus is a thicker version of Juvèderm® Ultra. This version is used to correct more severe facial wrinkles, deep nasolabial folds, and more pronounced marionette lines, while also filling in hollows around the cheeks. Juvèderm® Ultra Plus is thicker than Belotero®, Restylane®, and Juvèderm® Ultra. It’s meant to be injected deeper into the skin than the lighter dermal fillers for more pronounced correction. In many cases, a combination of two or more dermal filler brands applied to different areas can be most effective for optimal facial rejuvenation.

WHAT ARE HYALURONIC ACID FILLERS?

Hyaluronic acid, commonly known as HA, is a sugar that’s found naturally in your skin. Its function is to absorb water, deliver nutrients, and act as a cushioning agent for joints. The extra water brought to the skin’s surface imparts a glowing radiance and supple skin texture.

Hyaluronic acid fillers (known as dermal fillers) can encourage the production of collagen, which helps to further firm and plump your skin and reduce wrinkles over time. Dermal fillers can target the upper, mid, and lower face for comprehensive results. Hyaluronic acid fillers can define the lips, contour the chin, improve nose shape, and fill in features that look flat or sunken in. Thicker hyaluronic acid fillers like Juvèderm® Ultra Plus are typically most appropriate for building volume in the cheeks or for a liquid rhinoplasty for the nose. Lighter fillers work better for wrinkles around the eyes or upper lip.

WHAT CAN JUVÈDERM® ULTRA PLUS DO?

The thicker Juvèderm® Ultra Plus is placed into the mid and deep layers, allowing for greater volume over a larger area. This allows for the ability to lift deeper folds around the face, cheeks, and nasolabial folds or smile lines. Juvèderm® Ultra Plus may also be used in a liquid face lift procedure to sculpt and reshape facial contours or as a hand rejuvenation treatment. The lighter, thinner Juvèderm® Ultra is usually better suited to treat wrinkles around the eyes, to reduce lip lines, or to target folds that are not as deep.

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT DURING MY JUVÈDERM® ULTRA PLUS TREATMENT?

Juvèderm® Ultra Plus treatments are relatively quick. A topical anesthetic gel or cream may be applied to reduce discomfort. The Juvèderm® Ultra Plus (a thin gel-like substance) is injected into the target area using a fine needle. The actual injection time is only about fifteen to forty minutes. The area of injection should instantly appear smoother and fuller following your injection. Most patients feel virtually no discomfort during treatment.*

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE FOR JUVÈDERM® ULTRA PLUS TO WORK?

Dermal filler results are immediate and you should start to see improvements within a week or two, as the product settles fully into your skin.*

HOW LONG DOES JUVÈDERM® ULTRA PLUS LAST?

Depending on the patient’s metabolism, Juvèderm® Ultra Plus may last from six to nine months. One to two treatments per year will help maintain your Juvèderm® Ultra Plus results. Continuing treatments may actually result in less frequent visits and smaller doses down the road since Juvèderm® Ultra Plus can assist in the production of new collagen to enhance skin structure.*

CAN ANY DOCTOR INJECT JUVÈDERM® ULTRA PLUS DERMAL FILLERS?

Placing dermal fillers correctly and precisely is crucial to achieving the optimal result. Our dermatologists are certified in the use of dermal fillers and have extensive experience administering Juvèderm® Ultra Plus. Our providers can discuss whether cosmetic fillers are an ideal treatment for you.

IS JUVÈDERM® ULTRA PLUS SAFE FOR EVERYONE?

Juvèderm® Ultra Plus is FDA-approved and safe for use. If you are allergic or sensitive to hyaluronic acid or lidocaine, you should not receive Juvèderm® Ultra Plus injections. Patients with severe allergies, multiple allergies, or a history of anaphylaxis should not receive Juvèderm Ultra Plus. Juvèderm® Ultra Plus should not be administered directly following deep chemical peels, dermabrasion, or laser treatments. If you’re pregnant, breastfeeding, or plan to become pregnant, you should speak with your doctor before undergoing any dermal filler treatment. Patients who have had a previous allergic reaction to dermal fillers should share this information with their doctor. Anyone who has recently used blood thinners or has a bleeding disorder should avoid cosmetic injections.

IS A SKIN TEST REQUIRED PRIOR TO JUVÈDERM® ULTRA PLUS?

No, Juvèderm® Ultra Plus does not require an allergy test. Juvèderm dermal fillers are safe, FDA-approved, biocompatible, and non-animal based, which means patients do not need to have allergy testing done prior to treatment.

WHAT’S IN JUVÈDERM® ULTRA PLUS?

Juvèderm® Ultra Plus contains non-animal hyaluronic acid filler (derived from a naturally-occurring substance found in the skin), along with lidocaine (a local anesthetic to reduce discomfort during and after treatment).

ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS AFTER JUVÈDERM® ULTRA PLUS?

Juvèderm® Ultra Plus treatments require no downtime. You may experience temporary redness, tenderness, swelling, or bruising around the injection site. Makeup can easily cover any temporary discoloration. In rare cases, small bumps may appear around the treatment area. Patients are advised to avoid intense exercise, heat and sun exposure, alcohol, excess salt, aspirin, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, and lying face down for the first twenty-four hours after your Juvèderm® Ultra Plus treatment.

HOW DO I LEARN MORE ABOUT JUVÈDERM® ULTRA PLUS TREATMENT?

Juvèderm Voluma® is a long-lasting dermal filler treatment that helps reduce the signs of aging skin by adding volume to the face. Juvèderm Voluma® is generally placed on top of the bone around the cheeks or mid-face. Voluma® can add definition, smooth lines, and improve facial contours. The nuances of each dermal filler are particular and specific. It’s best to schedule an appointment with Dermatology, Laser & Surgery of Carnegie Hill. We are an experienced, premier destination that can help you choose the right dermal filler in NYC based on your skin type and concern.

WHAT ARE HYALURONIC ACID FILLERS?

Hyaluronic acid (known as HA) is a sugar that’s found naturally in your skin. Its function is to absorb water, deliver nutrients, and act as a cushioning agent for joints. Injections of hyaluronic acid can induce a robust production of collagen, which helps to further firm and plump your skin and reduce wrinkles over time. Juvèderm Voluma® is thicker than Belotero®, Restylane®, Juvèderm® Ultra, and Juvèderm® Ultra Plus. It’s meant to be injected deeper into the skin to treat more severe facial wrinkling.

WHAT DOES JUVÈDERM VOLUMA® DO BEST?

Juvèderm Voluma® is a fabulous injection for the mid-face. It can provide an extremely natural-looking result, especially around the cheeks.

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT DURING MY JUVÈDERM VOLUMA® TREATMENT?

Juvèderm Voluma® treatments are relatively fast. Typically, a topical anesthetic gel or cream is applied to eliminate the possibility of any discomfort. Once this takes effect, the Juvèderm Voluma® is injected into the target area using a very fine needle. The actual injection takes only fifteen to forty minutes to complete. The area of injection will instantly appear smoother and fuller, with more volume and definition. As with all injectables, most patients feel a little tender after their treatment. Voluma® can leave some patients a touch bruised or swollen, but this should resolve in a few days.*

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE FOR JUVÈDERM VOLUMA® TO WORK?

Juvèderm Voluma can deliver immediate results. Within a week or two, your final results should be beautifully apparent.*

HOW LONG DOES JUVÈDERM VOLUMA® LAST?

Juvèderm Voluma® treatments may last approximately eighteen to twenty-four months; this is dependent on how fast the metabolism in your body breaks down the hyaluronic acid. Over time, you may actually need less frequent visits and smaller doses thanks to the long-term benefits of the continuous correction as new collagen generates from the Juvèderm Voluma® treatment.*

CAN ANY DOCTOR INJECT JUVÈDERM VOLUMA®?

Our dermatologists specialize in Juvèderm Voluma® and have extensive experience administering all types of hyaluronic acid dermal fillers. It’s important the injections be placed precisely in order to achieve the desired result. Radiesse® is a calcium-based filler containing calcium hydroxyapatite, a mineral-like compound that occurs naturally in human bones. Radiesse® has a thicker density and is most commonly used for nasolabial folds, marionette lines, frown lines, to plump sunken cheeks, and for hand rejuvenation.

WHAT DOES RADIESSE® DO BEST?

Radiesse® is a cosmetic treatment used to fill specific areas of the face and hands. Radiesse® is most effective when correcting nasolabial folds, smile lines, or laugh lines, and can also treat volume loss in the back of the hands. As Radiesse® is plumping your skin, it’s also stimulating the collagen in your skin, which makes it a highly sought-after dermal filler.

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT DURING MY RADIESSE® TREATMENT?

Radiesse® injections are relatively quick. A topical anesthetic may be applied to the treatment area to help reduce any discomfort. Once that takes effect, the Radiesse® filler is injected into the target area through a fine needle. Treatments typically last fifteen to forty minutes. The injection should add volume and definition to the target area immediately. Most patients feel minimal discomfort both during and after the injection.*

HOW LONG DOES RADIESSE® LAST?

Radiesse® patients enjoy long-term results for over a year (and sometimes up to two years) before repeat procedures are required. It’s long-lasting because the ingredients are stimulating your naturally-occurring collagen, allowing your skin to produce more of its own, thereby increasing the longevity of your treatment.*

Belotero®

Belotero

Belotero® is similar to other hyaluronic acid fillers such as Juvèderm® and Restylane®. Belotero® is very light-weight, is easy to layer, and can be injected into very fine lines without creating lumps or bumps. This filler is most effective when correcting under eye hollows (referred to as tear troughs). If you are looking to fill wrinkles or add fullness under the eyes, Belotero® may be right for you. Should you be looking to correct marionette lines or build up the cheeks, it’s likely that our dermatologist will choose a combination of dermal fillers applied to different areas to provide the most effective result for optimal facial rejuvenation.

WHAT ARE HYALURONIC ACID FILLERS?

The primary active ingredient in Belotero® is hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid, commonly known as HA, is a sugar that’s found naturally in your skin. As you age, your body produces less HA, which causes the skin to lose its volume and structure. Injections of hyaluronic acid can encourage the production of collagen, which helps to further firm and plump your skin and reduce wrinkles over time.

WHAT DOES BELOTERO® DO BEST?

Belotero® is an ideal dermal filler for thinner facial areas. It’s just the right consistency for those who want to fill under eye hollows and tear troughs. It can also be used in conjunction with a neurotoxin to smooth deep glabellar lines (the “11” lines).

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT DURING MY BELOTERO® TREATMENT?

Belotero® treatments can be completed in-office. First is the consultation with our provider, followed by your procedure. During your treatment, a topical anesthetic may be applied to ease any discomfort. Once that takes effect, the Belotero®, a gel-like substance, is injected into the target area using an ultra-fine needle. The injection time is about twenty to thirty minutes. Outside of a little stinging, the procedure is not painful.*

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE FOR BELOTERO® TO WORK?

The beauty of fillers is that the results are immediate and you can begin to see improvements as soon as your Belotero® injection is complete. You should see full results within a week or two of your Belotero® procedure, as the product settles fully into your skin and the final results are beautifully apparent.*

HOW LONG DOES BELOTERO® LAST?

Belotero® lasts a bit longer than other lightweight hyaluronic acid fillers. Belotero® can last up to a year, depending on how fast the metabolism in your body breaks down the hyaluronic acid.*

Our dermatologists specialize in Belotero® injections and have extensive experience administering all types of hyaluronic dermal fillers. It’s important that the injections be placed precisely in order to achieve the desired result. Our certified providers can advise you as to whether Belotero® is best suited to your needs.
